Questions

Asked at the front desk

Short answers to what callers ask most. Your own situation may change the answer, so call if you're unsure.

Where is the office, and is there parking?

Upstairs at 214 West Callender Street, above the hardware store. There's street parking out front and a public lot a block east.

Is there an elevator?

No. If stairs are hard for you, Arne will meet you at a ground-floor room at the library, at your home or by video.

How do you charge?

Plans and closings are one price, quoted in writing. Court work is hourly against a deposit, with an itemized statement each month.

Is the first meeting free?

The first thirty-minute conversation has no charge. Work begins only after you sign an engagement letter.

Do you take cases outside Park County?

Often in Sweet Grass and Gallatin counties, and sometimes beyond for wills and land matters that don't need court.

Do you handle criminal cases?

Not as a regular practice. The office will give you names of defense lawyers in Bozeman and Billings.

I'm a lawyer elsewhere. How does local counsel work?

Call or write with the parties' names for a conflict check. Once clear, you'll get a written fee quote and a direct line.

What papers help at a first meeting?

Anything with your matter's name on it: deeds, court papers, a prior will, letters from the other side.

Anything else on your mind?

Call during office hours, or write and the office will answer.
